A COMPANION FOR INDEPENDENCE, by a canine

I’m a puppy in training, my name is Estelle.
To be a canine companion I must excel.

I will pay attention and learn my commands
The job is rewarding with all its demands.

Although I’m learning, I have a long way to go
So many times I thought my name was “NO”.

I know my name and come when you call
And behave myself when we go to the mall.

When told to “sit” my rear hits the floor
I even know how to wait at the door.

When I misbehave, I really feel sad
But, it’s the other dogs that make me bad.

But now let’s face it, I’m only a pup
I want to be the best when I grow up.

I will succeed and will keep up the pace
I won’t be just another pretty face.
